They have said it's a lot easier to convert people who are poor, than people who have a comfortable life. They have complained in rich neighborhoods, it's virtually impossible. I think losing your job, being poor and disparate makes people easy targets to whoever will offer them a hand. I think this is why I keep hearing people talking about "The Rapture." It's sad when people have more hope for death than they do in life. I live in Utah and have heard missionaries discussing their missions.
