Glen Greenwald from Salon on Obama’s support for FISA
One of the most important things Glen Greenwald has to say (former Constitutional Layer) is
It is absolutely false that the only unconstitutional and destructive provision of this “compromise” bill is the telecom amnesty part. It’s true that most people working to defeat the Cheney/Rockefeller bill viewed opposition to telecom amnesty as the most politically potent way to defeat the bill, but the bill’s expansion of warrantless eavesdropping powers vested in the President, and its evisceration of safeguards against abuses of those powers, is at least as long-lasting and destructive as the telecom amnesty provisions. The bill legalizes many of the warrantless eavesdropping activities George Bush secretly and illegally ordered in 2001. Those warrantless eavesdropping powers violate core Fourth Amendment protections. And Barack Obama now supports all of it, and will vote it into law. Those are just facts.
Barack Obama is starting to exhibit a pattern of soft peddling and supporting really bad bills.
Another example is Barack Obama’s Senate vote for the Reauthorization of the Patriot Act.
Senate votes on the Reauth of the Patriot Act
Also Congress votes on the Reauth of the Patriot Act
It looks like I will have to vote for Ralph Nader or Bob Barr for hope of change.
Some people may want to look into Check Baldwin. Personally voting for a former member of the Moral Majority does not sound like a good idea. Although I believe morality is very important, I don’t want to elect someone who is going to try to legislate it.

]]>We are talking about something very different with a health plan that requires every citizen to buy a health insurance plan from a health insurance company. Didn’t everyone watch Michael Moore’s Sicko? How is Hillary’s health care plan any better than Billy Tozan’s Medicare scam? Unfortunately many people don’t understand this is corruption of free market economics because a free market does not include corporate welfare.
Since Hillary is requiring people to buy a health insurance policy from a corporation, I would call this a fascist health care plan. In review of the 14 Points of Fascism, I believe it relates to points 9 and 10:
9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.
Conservatives are afraid of Socialism or the government having too much power. Liberals are afraid of Corporations exploiting people or things for money.
When you have the government merging with corporations to serve corporate interests you have fascism. This is why Aaron Russo called his film “America Freedom to Fascism” not “America Freedom to Socialism.”
The big point here is you now have something both Conservatives and Liberals oppose. This is why people from every political spectrum joined together to support Ron Paul. I believe this is very important to understand in order to unite people?
I often pointing out to my Liberal friends, Michael Moore didn’t support SCHIP.
The reason is SCHIP was a way to tax people for smoking and funnel money to health insurance companies. You have to rely on people to smoke to provide health care for children. I’m really surprised George Bush didn’t support SCHIP since he supported the Medicare bill.
Hillary Clinton’s has received more money from the health lobby than any other candidate. Michael Moore keeps a running update on his website: see Sickos for Sale. This is a good site to bookmark because these figures are updated as soon as the disclosure information is released.
There were two Presidential candidates who wanted to cut the health insurance companies out of the picture that I’m aware of. If I’m missing someone, let me know.
Dennis Kucinich wanted implement a health care program similar to Canada’s as Michael Moore recommended.
A Healthy Nation by Dennis Kucinich
Ron Paul wanted to implement a plan where people would need to check around for the lowest prices so doctors would have to compete and lower their prices. He also recommends elimination health insurance for all non major medical treatments so you pay the doctor directly in cash.
At first I thought this was a ridicules idea, but then I starting thinking about the billing department that’s required just to hassle with insurance companies. All the claims have to be coded, submitted, and then a good deal of the time you have to fight with the insurance company to get paid. Doctors also bill as high a price as they can, struggling to get more money out of the insurance companies. The insurance company than applies an allowed amount if the doctors office is a participating provider. Basically what Ron Paul suggests is getting rid of the Nixon mandate Michael Moore brought up in the movie Sicko.

This video was originally posed by The Thoughts of Awake People.Warning people about physhing is good, but lets look at what the media is really doing here. Notice they are telling people (particularly the elderly) NOT to go to any web site they haven’t gone to before. They are also telling them NOT to click on links anyone ever sends them in an email. This keeps the elderly from doing any research on the web.
This keeps the elderly in the US–who vote more than anyone else–from being exposed to any information other than what main stream media tells them.
Maybe the media is trying to defend their advertising dollars. It may also be because they don’t want the elderly to know certain things like the US is building 14 permanent military bases in Iraq.
Having watched films like Orwell Rolls in his Grave, and Century of Self, I believe this is quite deliberate.
The control the mainstream media has is extremely dangerous to democracy. We need to reach out to other voters, and particularly elderly voters, in order to break through the reality being created by the mainstream media.
People also need to understand the real root of political power in the United States is finding out what your precinct is, and attending caucuses. Depending on the state you live in, the caucus can actually determine who winds up on the ballot.
Again I recommend against splitting off into a third party. The media will not give them any coverage. Legally they don’t have to give them any coverage. Unless you are a billionaire, the only thing breaking off into a third party will do, is leave the corrupt people in the Democratic Party or the Republican Party to do as they please. Don’t get caught in that trap.
